Morrissey urges fans 'not to buy' new Hollywood Bowl DVD

Morrissey has disowned an upcoming live DVD - because he says it is being released without his permission.

'Live At The Hollywood Bowl' features a 22-song set of Smiths and solo songs, as previously reported by NME.COM.

However Morrissey has issued an angry statement to the True To You website, saying that Warner Music Entertainment, who are releasing the DVD, are doing so without his permission.

The full statement reads: "The slapdash release of 'Morrissey Live At The Hollywood Bowl' is done by Warner without any consultation to me whatsoever, and is in breach of their terms as laid out by themselves in an agreement made for the film between Warner and my ex-manager.

"Being Warner, predictably the sleeve art is appalling. It is the work of cash-hounds, and I urge people NOT to buy it. I am not signed to Warner, and no royalties from this DVD will come to me. Please spend your money elsewhere. Thank you, MORRISSEY."

The DVD is scheduled to be released on October 6.

    Nirvana's 'Unplugged' Heading to DVD

Nirvana's 1993, "MTV Unplugged" taping will make its DVD debut Nov. 20.

"MTV Unplugged in New York" was released Nov. 1, 1994, on CD, the first Nirvana product to appear following Kurt Cobain's suicide that April.

Like the CD, the Universal Music DVD will include the songs "Something in the Way" and "Oh Me," which did not appear on the original MTV broadcast. The DVD also sports four tracks from the band's soundcheck and previously unreleased behind-the-scenes footage.

Nirvana's "Unplugged" date is arguably the most famous in the long-running series, as the band eschewed most of its hits in favor of lesser-known album tracks and obscure covers (particularly, three Meat Puppets songs). The live version of "About a Girl" reached No. 1 on Billboard's Modern Rock tally.

"Inside The Smiths" documentary DVD could be out "as soon as the end of this month"

Salford Lads' Club playing the Smiths card again, and guess which two of the band turned up?

THE famous photo of Manchester pop legends The Smiths outside Salford Lads Club has been recreated - to launch a DVD documentary about the all-conquering 1980s group.

The film - called Inside The Smiths - has been produced and directed by Stephen Petricco, owner of Manchester's Fab Café and TV21 bars.

The release of the rockumentary, which follows bass player Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce across England, Europe and America and features in depth interviews with the pair - could be out as soon as the end of this month.

    Light-hearted

Stephen Petricco says: "The film goes inside the band but in a light-hearted way. I have been mates with Andy and Mike for years now.

"This was never a conscious effort to make a documentary - it is just something that happened."

The new Lads Club line-up features Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce plus producer Stephen Petricco, original photographer Stephen Wright, and presenter Mark Standley.

"It's both funny and sad at the same time," said Stephen.
