Iggy And The Stooges for full 2010 tour

Iggy Pop has revealed that he and his band The Stooges are set for a full touring schedule next year.

The singer had previously announced that guitarist James Williamson would replace the late Ron Asheton in the band to play their classic 1973 album 'Raw Power' in May next year to play the All Tomorrow's Parties in the UK. Now he has said that more gigs are to come.

"We're going to be doing a one-off show in Brazil [on November 7 at Planeta Terra] but the real touring starts next year," he told BBC News.

Pop paid tribute to Asheton, who he said was still a big presence in the band.

"His spirit within the group remains with the rest of us and he is still a presence within the group without being on the physical plain," he explained.

Tool Frontman On Touring With Side Act: 'We Need To Do It'

Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan's side project Puscifer began its first North American tour last Thursday (October 29th) in Las Vegas, where the act made its live debut earlier in the year. At the time of the Vegas shows, Keenan wasn't sure if he would take Puscifer on a full tour, but he told us now why he changed his mind: "I just think we need to do it. I think it's so impossible to explain what's going on with this show. You just have to basically present it. You know, trying to explain to somebody in Seattle or Denver what this thing's all about requires too many words. You've got to go do it."

As with the previous gigs, the shows will be cabaret-style performances by a loose collection of musicians, comedians and other artists.

The mostly West Coast tour comes just as the group prepares to release a new EP on November 10th, titled C Is For (Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference Here). Puscifer next hits Oakland on Wednesday (November 4th).

Keenan also informed us that the act will head out on a Midwest and East Coast swing sometime next February or March.

Puscifer's debut album, V Is For Vagina, came out in the fall of 2007, followed last year by a remix collection titled V Is For Viagra.

Rob Zombie Finishes 'Director's Cut' of 'Halloween II'

Rob Zombie has announced via his Twitter page that the "director's cut" of his latest movie, Halloween II, is "finally done," adding that it's "very different than the theatrical version." The new edition of the movie is likely to end up on a DVD release, although the arrival date for that has yet to be revealed. Halloween II came out in late August to mostly poor reviews and failed to match the box office take of Zombie's previous film, 2007's Halloween, which grossed $60 million in U.S. theatres.

Zombie explained to Icons Of Fright what made his "director's cut" of Halloween II different from the theatrical version, saying, "Laurie Strode's character is the main difference in the two. (In the theatrical) she's holding it together, getting her life together and it starts spiraling downward. In the other version, she's an incredible mess and gets worse . . . Messed up on drugs, she's just completely spun out through the whole movie. It makes for a real challenging movie to watch . . . I don't know if fans would've embraced so much darkness."

Halloween II will also be re-released in theatres on October 30th in time for the holiday it's named after.

Zombie kicks off a North American tour this Thursday (October 29th) in Phoenix, Arizona. He's hitting the road despite the fact that his fourth solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe 2, has been bumped from a November 17th arrival to an undetermined 2010 release date.

R.E.M. Releases New Live Album Today

R.E.M. releases its new concert set, Live At Olympia, today (Tuesday, October 27th) featuring tracks from a five-night stand in Dublin, Ireland in 2007. The 39-track set is available as both a double-CD and as a CD/DVD combo -- complete with concert and backstage footage. At the concerts, R.E.M. previewed music from its 2008 critically-acclaimed Accelerate album. The set also includes two new songs not included on Accelerate -- "On the Fly" and "Staring Down The Barrel Of The Middle Distance."

Live At Olympia marks R.E.M.'s second official live album. The first, which came out in 2007, was recorded in Dublin as well. Guitarist Peter Buck tells us the group has grown used to being more popular overseas than in the U.S. in recent years: "Outside of America we're more popular than we've ever been. And, you know, it's like being the Beatles in Italy or Ireland or England, and it's really intense and really fun and really cool."

A 60-minute documentary film of R.E.M.'s same concert run in Ireland, called This Is Not A Show: Live at the Olympia in Dublin, is playing in select towns across the US through November 5th.

Noel Gallagher confirms solo career plan

Noel Gallagher has confirmed that he plans to embark on a solo career following the break-up of Oasis in August.

The guitarist told the Daily Mirror that he was looking forward to releasing music of his own now he was free of the band's shackles.

"I'm looking forward to doing my own thing, bringing out my own music," he said. "I'm glad that's what people want to hear. I am not thinking about much else, Oasis or Liam, I'm just having a good time."

Liam Gallagher recently said that he too would continue to make music, but not under the Oasis guise, as had previously been rumoured
